TAG Heuer to build luxury smartwatch in partnership with Intel and Google

Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer overnight announced a partnership with Intel and Google to create its first smartwatch.  TAG will design and build the watch, Intel will provide will the hardware while Google will add its Android Wear operating system into the mix.

"The quality of Swiss watches is renowned worldwide," said Guy Sémon, General Manager of TAG. "When this is allied with the creative technology and global power of two companies like Intel and Google, using the Android Wear platform and based on Intel technology, we can see the launch of a technological revolution in our industry, of which I am proud to be a pioneer today with TAG Heuer."

TAG is expected to provide details on its smartwatch's pricing and features around quarter four, ahead of an end of year launch. The watch will likely be a digital replica of the TAG's original Carrera watch. An entry-level analogue Carrera currently retails for AUD$5,750, whereas a rose gold model can cost as much as AUD$23,300.
