It’s that time of the year again for everyone to get drunk and gamble – its Anzac Day! Though we know that your local pub has already gotten the beer covered, there might be some of you who have forgotten to bring the kip for two-ups. In such case, you might want to use your smartphone as a substitute.

2UP by CrazyApps (For Android) – Approx. $1 on Google Play

2UP is the virtual version of the popular Aussie game for Android. The app was developed by CrazyApps and allows several users to join the betting game. It can accommodate up to six players including the spinner and lets each user place a bet either tails, heads or odds.

Players can specify the amount to bet and each loss or win will be recorded as the game progresses. The game is best enjoyed if the app is mirrored in a large screen either through a microUSB MHL cable or some other wireless means.

In order to toss the virtual coins, the spinner simply taps on the handle of the kip.

Two-Up by Personae Studios (For iOS) – Free on iTunes Store

For iPhone users, Personae Studios has created Two-Up. Unlike the Android-based 2UP, this app has a simpler interface. You don’t have a way to record your winnings or the name of the players; and there’s also no restriction on the amount of bet you’ll be gambling.

Moreover, the app uses the phone’s accelerometer to toss the coins. The assigned spinner simply needs to imitate the tossing motion on a real kip to start the game. Be careful though, because the app also detects diagonal hand movements which results in a foul.
