Photos that allegedly depict the Samsung Galaxy Alpha have appeared on Chinese social media site Weibo. While previous rumours have suggested the new device would take on a similar look to the Galaxy S5, the leaked images show a phone that appears heavily inspired by the iPhone 5.

The latest Galaxy Alpha rumours suggest a mix of high-end and mid-range hardware, including a 4.8-inch 720p display and 32 gigabytes of storage. This contrasts with previous information that claimed the phone would have a 5.3-inch quad high definition screen. It is uncertain whether the Galaxy Alpha will be introduced as Samsung's latest flagship, or whether it will be considered a mid-level device.

Samsung has not yet acknowledged the existence of the Galaxy Alpha, nor confirmed a release date. However, according to SamMobile, the electronics giant will likely announced the phone on August 13.
