Samsung has just unveiled its newest project pertaining to the internet of things. While Google is busy making its driverless car a household item, Samsung has created something more eco-friendly by working with the folks from the Maestro Academy in Italy.

Through this partnership, Samsung was able to build a smart bike that ensures a rider’s safety. The bike is equipped with an array of sensors and cameras that track a number of things including bike lanes, duration of a ride, and even checking which people are close to the rider to name a few.

The bike also comes with an Adruino computer that crunches all the data from the bike’s sensors and cameras. The information can then be shared on social networking sites. At the moment, it looks like the Smart bike is more of a showcase piece rather than something meant for mass production.

The Maestro Academy was founded by Samsung just this year in hopes to preserve “Italian craftsmanship in the digital age”.
