Optus reveals Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL plans, now taking pre-orders

Optus has begun taking pre-orders for MIcrosoft’s Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL smartphones with plans starting at AUD$60 per month. To sweeten the deal, the telco was giving the first 300 customers to pre-order either handset a free 1TB Xbox One FIFA16 Bundle, valued at AUD$499. As of 4pm today, all 300 Xbox One units has been claimed.

The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL will be available in stores from December 7.

The 5.2-inch Lumia 950 and 5.7-inch Lumia 950 XL are the first flagship smartphones to run Windows 10 Mobile. In addition to a revamped operating system, the pair are Microsoft's first devices to support Continuum, a feature that allows them to mimic a desktop Windows experience when plugged into a PC.

Optus' Lumia 950 plans are as follows:

Unlimited talk and text, 500MB of data – AUD$60 per month
Unlimited talk and text, 3GB of data – AUD$74 per month
Unlimited talk and text, 8GB of data – AUD$80 per month
Unlimited talk and text, 20GB of data – AUD$100 per month (offer ends January 4)

And Optus' Lumia 950 XL plans are as follows:

Unlimited talk and text, 500MB of data – AUD$64 per month
Unlimited talk and text, 3GB of data – AUD$78 per month
Unlimited talk and text, 8GB of data – AUD$84 per month
Unlimited talk and text, 20GB of data – AUD$100 per month (offer ends January 4)

At present, Optus is the only local telco that has committed to carrying Microsoft's latest phones. Vodafone told CyberShack that it won't range either, and Telstra has yet to confirm.

Outright, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL will retail for AUD$999 and AUD$1,129, respectively. The phones will be available from Microsoft's own store and Harvey Norman retailers.
