Optus drops unlimited broadband pricing to AUD$95 per month

Optus today announced that it is cutting the price of two of its unmetered broadband bundles – the Big Bundle and the Home Entertainment Bundle – to AUD$95 per month, down from AUD$115.

"With video-on-demand and streaming services becoming mainstream, we know that unlimited data is fast becoming a must have for many Aussie families," said Optus' Managing Director of Marketing and Product Vicki Brady. "Optus is responding to changing consumer behaviour with plans that deliver everything customers have been asking for."

Optus' Big Bundle includes unlimited data, unlimited local, national and mobile calls, and unlimited international calls to select countries.

The Home Entertainment Bundle includes unlimited data, unlimited local, national and mobile calls, and a Fetch TV PVR with Entertainment Pack.

An Unlimited Home Bundle is also available for AUD$115 per month, combining the Home Entertainment Bundle's and the Big Bundle's inclusion.

Both the Big Bundle and Home Entertainment Bundle have an AUD$125 setup fee, which is waived on the Unlimited Home Bundle.

All three unlimited broadband bundles can be delivered through copper (ADSL2+), cable or the National Broadband Network (NBN). Customers are required to sign a 24 month contract when subscribing to a new plan through copper or NBN, but can opt for a month-by-month, no lock-in plan on services delivered via cable. Month-by-month billing adds AUD$15 to the price of each bundle.

On cable, users have the choice of two speed packs: Basic or Max. Customers can download at up to 30Mbps on Basic, and up to 100Mbps on Max. Enabling the Max speed pack is billed at an extra AUD$30 per month.

On NBN, Optus has three speed tiers; Basic, Boost and Max. Customers can download at up to 12Mbps on Basic, up to 25Mbps on Boost, and up to 100Mbps on Max. The Boost speed pack and Max speed add an extra AUD$10 and AUD$30 to a customer's monthly bill, respectively.

Only one speed tier is available on connections delivered through copper.
