Office for iPad receives first major update

Four months after the release of Office for iPad, Microsoft has rolled out the suite's first major update. The three components of the suite, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, have all received new features. According to the Office Blog,the features included in the update are among users' most requested.

Four months after the release of Office for iPad, Microsoft has rolled out the suite's first major update. The three components of the suite, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, have all received new features. According to the Office Blog,the features included in the update are among users' most requested.

All three apps in the Office for iPad suite are now able to export documents as PDFs, and use any third-party fonts users may have installed on their iPad. In addition, the apps also feature improved picture tools, allowing users to crop graphics.

Excel received improved support for Pivot Tablets, gesture based navigation, and improved keyboard support. Presenter View, annotations and audio and video support were the major additions to PowerPoint. A complete list of features can be viewed here.

Office for iPad is available as part of an Office 365 subscription.
