Nokia’s Lumia phones are getting a lot of spotlight these past few days, especially during Microsoft’s BUILD conference where three new devices were highlighted sporting the newest version of Windows Phone. Today, the Finnish company is giving some attention to its Asha line by rolling out an update that brings much needed improvements to the phone range.

The update will be pushed over the air to several Asha models including the Asha 500, 501, 502, 503 and 230, and supports both the single and dual-SIM version of the mentioned handsets.

The update will bring a number of features most notably in the camera department. On one hand we have the addition of the Panorama mode which is used by aligning a dot in the middle of the screen as users pan the phone to take the panorama shot. There’s also a voice-assisted selfie camera mode which gives users voice instructions so that their face is at the center when they take the shot.

Nokia has also made improvements in the Fast track section of the platform making accessing notifications on your social networks easy and convenient. Lastly, the update will bring Nokia’s completely free Mix Radio into the Asha platform.

The global rollout of the update should start today, so Asha owners can already check if the update is available on their phone by checking the settings on their handset.
