Nokia’s best-selling Windows Phone handset is just about ready to retire, so the Finnish company is now announcing its replacement – the Lumia 525.

Just like its predecessor, the Lumia 525 is built around a 4.0-inch IPS LCD display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution. It also has the same Qualcomm MSM8227 chipset with a 1GHz dual-core processor, Adreno 305 GPU and 8GB of on-board storage.

In the camera department, the Lumia 525 packs a decent 5MP snapper that is capable of capturing 720p videos. There’s also the same 1430mAh battery that is also found on the Lumia 520.

But what’s new in the Lumia 525 is actually in the memory and software department. In contrast to its predecessor, the smartphone now features an additional 512MB of RAM and runs the latest Windows Phone 8 update for Lumia phones – Lumia Black out of the box as well as other Nokia Here Apps such as Here Maps, Here Drive and Here Transit.

The Nokia Lumia 525 is expected to hit China first and is expected to be priced in the same range as the Lumia 520.
