So we’ve already seen the latest model of Nikon’s V-range of mirrorless cameras, so the most logical ILC range to get an update from the company would have to the J-series. So today, the Japanese manufacturer is announcing the Nikon 1 J4.

The J4 packs an 18.4MP super high-speed AF CMOS sensor with no low-pass filter coupled with an EXPEED 4A image-processing engine. It also comes with 105 focus points with phase detection and 171 points with contrast-detect AF. It is also capable of capturing Full HD movies as well as video clips with special effects such as Fast Motion, Jump Cut and 4-second movie.

The camera supports continuous shooting at a rate of 20 frames per second (up to 60 fps when focus is locked). There’s also a 3-inch TF LCD touchscreen at the back as well as built-in Wi-Fi.

Nikon is also releasing two new accessories for the J4 which should make it as adventurous as the Nikon AW1. On one hand is the WP-N3 waterproof case that should protect the J4 up to 45m underwater while on the other hand there’s the SB-N10 underwater Speedlight.

There’s no word on pricing and availability yet, but it should be priced in the same price range as last year’s model which was at around $600 (with 10-30mm kit lens).
