Nike today announced that the companion app for its FuelBand and FuelBand SE fitness bands is now available to Android users worldwide.

The Nike Fuelband is an activity tracker that uses Bluetooth to connect to a smartphone in order to record any form of physical activity and stores it in an online community where users can compare their progress with other people.

And ever since its launch in 2012, the FuelBands, specifically the companion app that is required to access the Nike FuelBand community has been an iOS exclusive. With today’s announcement, anyone who’s using an HTC One, Nexus 5, Moto X or Samsung’s Galaxy S models (starting with the S3) will be able to install the app on their phone (Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or higher).

The app will give users access to the NikeFuel Score information and history, track and receive progress updates for a daily goal, and view Fuel Score leader boards. Unfortunately, the app is only available in the US, UK, Canada, Germany and Japan at the moment so we may have to wait a little longer for the app to be available in Australia.
