Nokia is now at a turning point especially after its acquisition by Microsoft. So far, the company has released two handsets – the Lumia 930 and 630; and although these two handsets are actually not that bad, they don’t necessarily bring something new to the table.

But this may soon change as reports from WPCentral and The Verge claim that the next-generation Lumia handsets (one of which bears the name “McLaren) will pack new features including a more powerful camera and Kinect-like motion gestures called 3D Touch or Real Motion.

3D Touch uses the handset’s hardware sensors and software optimisations and algorithms to help track a user’s gestures and convert them into special commands and functions. For example, with 3D Touch hovering a finger around the display will prompt the phone to display additional information, or automatically end the call once you place the phone in your pocket.

Of course do keep in mind that this report is based on a rumour and that there is no specific ETA for the feature or the McLaren phone to be unveiled. For now, all we can do is wait for an official statement from Microsoft.
