Leaked benchmark results suggest that Motorola could be making the next Nexus phone. The news was first reported by Dutch smartphone news website, TechTastic, who stumbled across an entry for a device codenamed "Shamu" in the GFXBench database. Google has typically named its Nexus devices after aquatic creatures (Nexus 4 was codenamed Mako and Nexus 5 was codenamed Hammerhead), and Shamu appears to continue the trend.

The benchmark results provide a hint to the Nexus 6's internals; the device will apparently boast a quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, a 5.2 quad HD (2560×1440), 3 gigabytes of RAM and 13 megapixel camera.

Rumours previously suggested that the Nexus 6 would be manufactured by LG, and have similar specifications to the LG G3.

The Nexus 6 is expected to launch alongside Android L in Spring.
