A couple of good news comes to us this week especially to those who are fans of little phones. We also have an update regarding that modular phone project that Motorola is working on. So without further ado, here’s this week’s edition of Mobile Mondays.

SAMSUNG GALAXIES TO GET KITKAT

One of the most promising features of Android 4.4 KitKat that Google has mentioned in its introduction was its ability to fully support budget phones. So it’s not at all surprising that phone makers would now consider getting the update to their existing line of entry-level smartphones.

Samsung is one company that might be thinking of giving the KitKat flavour to its starter Galaxy devices. A leaked internal document indicates that the Korean manufacturer is considering giving its Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S3 Mini, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame, Galaxy Ace 2 and Galaxy Fresh the Android 4.4 update.

Of course the operative word here is “considering”, so owners of the said devices shouldn’t count their chicks before they hatch. But nonetheless, it’s really great news especially for those who are using budget smartphones.

MOTOROLA’s PROJECT ARA NEARING COMPLETION

Motorola’s modular handset – Project Ara is apparently close to being ready. According to the company’s CEO Dennis Woodside in an interview with YouTuber Marques Brownlee, Project Ara might make its debut on Moto Maker pretty soon.

Moreover, Woodside also added that they are going to introduce new materials into Moto Maker and that the company plans to expand the customisation process to more than one device in its product line.

THE PADFONE GETS A MINI VERSION

Asus is planning to give its Padfone a mini version. However, @evleaks has beat Asus to the punch by leaking photos of the smartphone well before its scheduled announcement this week.

There are no details yet on the device’s specifications, but based on the leaked images the device will have a 4.3-inch screen and may possibly be partnered with a 7.0-inch dock that transforms the phone into a tablet. The Auss Padfone Mini 4.3 is expected to be announced this Wednesday, 11 December 2013.
