Mobile Mondays: Android KitKat Update

While some of us are still dreaming of getting Android 4.2 on our handset, there are already rumours about what Android 4.4.3 will be bringing to future smartphones. Based on the leaked features of the update, it looks like Android 4.4.3 will be mostly bug fixes to known issues on the current build of Jelly Bean. Here is the list of fixes outlined in the leak…

  • mm-qcamera-daemon crash and optimization fixes
  • Camera focus in regular and HDR modes fixes
  • Power Manager display wakelock fix
  • Multiple Bluetooth fixes
  • Fix for a random reboot
  • App shortcuts sometimes got removed from launcher after update
  • USB debugging security fix
  • App shortcuts security fix
  • Wi-Fi auto-connect fix
  • Other camera fixes
  • MMS, Email/Exchange, Calendar, People/Dialer/Contacts, DSP, IPv6, VPN fixes
  • Stuck in activation screen fix
  • Missed call LED fix
  • Subtitle fixes
  • Data usage graph fix
  • Internet telephony fix
  • FCC compliance fix
  • Miscellaneous fixes

There’s no word on when the update will roll out to Android handsets, but we don’t expect too much delays since as mentioned before, this is just a bug-fix update.
