Microsoft to end free Xbox Music streaming in December

Microsoft today announced that it will retire Xbox Music's ad supported, free streaming feature as of December 1. The company will continue to offer music streaming, but users will be required to purchase an Xbox Music Pass for AUD$11.99 per month. Free music streaming is being discontinued to "to deliver the ultimate music purchase and subscription service experience" for customers, according to Microsoft.

Xbox Music Pass will continue to work the same way for existing subscribers, and a 30-day free trial is available for users of the free service.
