Microsoft signals end of support for Windows 7

As Microsoft works toward the next version of Windows, the software manufacturer has announced that mainstream support for Windows 7 will end up on the 13th of January, 2015. Mainstream support is the five-year period where Microsoft provides free patches and updates, including security fixes.

After this five year period, products enter extended support and updates are security-based only. Extended support for Windows 7 will conclude on the 14th of January, 2020.

Fingers crossed Microsoft hit a home-run with Windows 9, because it's time to get upgrading!
