Microsoft is reportedly throwing a small portion of its fortune to encourage developers to build apps for its mobile operating system – Windows Phone.

According to reports from Bloomberg Businessweek, the company is rumoured to be paying certain high-profile developers an amount close or in excess of US$100,000 for them to develop apps for Windows Phone.

Microsoft has recently added a number of popular titles to its marketplace including Pandora, Temple Run and Jetpack Joyride which shows that the monetary incentive might actually be working for the better.

The company still has its $100 per app reward program that gives developers a $100 Visa card to developers who can submit up to 20 applications by June 30 to the Windows Phone and Windows 8 stores.
