Microsoft and Dell have just announced today that they both signed an agreement regarding intellectual property rights of the latter’s Android- and Chrome OS-powered devices.

Basically the agreement will oblige Dell to pay Microsoft whenever it ships devices running on Android’s operating system. In exchange Microsoft will be paying some of Dell’s patents for use in its Xbox consoles.

On Dell’s part, the agreement will allow the company to sell both Android- and Chrome OS-powered devices without any legal ramifications. On the other hand, Microsoft will benefit from the agreement by earning dollars for the success of its competitor – Google.
