LG today announced the Optimus F5, a highly featured 4G handset that will soon be available through Optus and Virgin Mobile Stores and online beginning of June 2013 on both pre-paid and contract plans.

LG today announced the Optimus F5, a highly featured 4G handset that will soon be available through Optus and Virgin Mobile Stores and online beginning of June 2013 on both pre-paid and contract plans. The Optimus F5 will run on Android 4.1.2 Jelly bean and will sport several of the company’s software including:

  • Quick Memo which lets users capture and share handwritten notes on the screen of the phone using just the finger.
  • QSlide is a feature allows users to open up to three apps at the same time on one screen with the ability to change the size, position and transparency of the opened apps.
  • Live Zooming on the other hand lets users zoom in on videos whilst they are playing, so they can get a closer, more detailed look at any specific area.
  • Video Wiz is an application that lets users play movie director by giving them the ability to edit videos on the phone and enhance them with sound and music.
  • Quick Translator function is another app that translates not only words but entire sentences and phrases by simply using the camera to scan the text. The app accepts 44 different languages and can translate them into any one of the 64 languages programmed into the phone.

In terms of technical specifications, the Optimus F5 features a 1.2GHz dual-core processor on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip, a 4.3-inch qHD IPS display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and a pixel density of 256ppi, 8GB of internal memory which is expandable via a microSD card slot, 1 GB of RAM, a 5MP rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, and a 2150 mAh battery.

The Optimus F5 will be available on Optus for $229 (Prepaid) or $0 upfront on the $35 Optus Plan over 24 months (minimum total cost over 24 months is RRP $840). Meanwhile the device will be offered by Virgin Mobile at $0 per month on the Big Plan $29 (24-month contract, minimum total cost is RRP$696, Inclusions: $20 plan credit + 250MB data + Unlimited mobile calls & text to Virgin to Virgin within Australia).
