After Samsung and HTC, it’s now LG’s and Sony’s turn to join the Google Play Edition club with the LG G Pad 8.3 and the Sony Xperia Z Ultra.

As official members of the GPE club, both the G Pad and the Xperia Z Ultra will have Android 4.4 KitKat and will both be available on the Google Play Store. The Sony Xperia Z Ultra GPE will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip, a 6.4-inch 1080p Triluminos display and an IP58-certified water-proof body.

The G Pad on the other hand will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chip with a 1.7GHz quad-core CPU, 16GB of on-board storage with option for expansion via a microSD card slot and 2GB of RAM. The 8.3-inch display boasts a screen resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels.

Unfortunately, both phones will only be available at the moment in the U.S. The LG G-Pad 8.3 will be available on the American Google Play store for around US$831 while the Xperia Z Ultra GPE will retail for US$649.
