Kogan Mobile offers unlimited talk and text from AUD$16.90 a month

The newly revitalised Kogan Mobile is undercutting the competition with an AUD$16.90 prepaid plan offering unlimited standard talk and text, and 1GB of data with a 30 day expiry. The company says this plan is Australia's cheapest option for customers who want unmetered phone calls.

Amaysim offers a similar plan on Optus' 4G network for AUD24.90. This also includes unlimited standard text to select international countries.

Vodafone – Kogan Mobile's network partner – offers a 2GB recharge with unlimited talk and text for AUD$20, but the inclusions have a 10 day expiry.

Optus currently offers unlimited talk and text with 3GB of data for AUD$30.

While Kogan's Mobile 1XL plan may be cheaper than the competition, the service is 3G only for the time being. The vast majority of other Australian telcos and resellers use 4G networks.

"The Kogan Mobile 1XL prepaid option was developed to ensure that nobody has to worry about how many calls they make and how many texts they send ever again," said founder and CEO Ruslan Kogan. "The common message we’ve been hearing from customers is that they want 'peace of mind' and no nasty bill shock."

Subscribers looking for a better deal can sign up for 90 day or year-long plans for AUD$46.90 and AUD$179.90, respectively. On a year-long recharge, this takes the service's daily price down to under AUD$0.50 per day.

Customers looking at longer term options will still be allocated 1GB of data per 30 days, rather than having access to their complete allowance upfront.
