Jelly Bean Reaches HTC One X+ And Samsung Galaxy Grand

One of the advantages of purchasing a flagship or a high-end device from a major manufacturer is that such phones usually support OS updates even well after its release date. Today two handsets from HTC and Samsung are receiving the v4.2.2 of Jelly Bean. The first recipient of the update is HTC’s One X+. The handset will receive version 4.2.2 of Android with HTC Sense 5 on top.

The update will bring new features to the phone including the BlinkFeed homescreen as well as a new lockscreen with “electronic gadgets”.

The update also brings a quick settings panel, which can be accessed by doing a two-finger swipe down. There’s also a new sleep mode switch that users can activate to extend the battery of the phone. Moreover, HTC has also added a few updates for the camera. A long tap on the camera UI screen locks exposure and focus. Lastly, a video highlights has also been added, which allows users to choose from 12 kinds of music theme styles and make quick 30-seconds video.

Another device that will be getting the v4.2.2 Jelly Bean treatment is the Samsung Galaxy Grand. This will be last major update for the handset and will bring new features including lockscreen widgets, advanced toggle menus, daydream screensaver, improved tasks switching and a few minor tweaks to the overall user experience.

Samsung will also add a few apps derived from the Galaxy S4, mostly those Samsung-made apps.

The update is now seeding in Russia for the Galaxy Grand, with a global rollout expected to happen in the coming days. Meanwhile, the update for the One X+ is currently available as an OTA to several regions globally.
