How low can you go: Optus selling AUD$199 HTC smartphone

HTC today announced the Australian availability of the HTC Desire 520, a brand new budget smartphone retailing for AUD$199.

The Desire 520 is a decidedly low-end device powered by modest hardware. Key inclusions are a quad-core Snapdragon 210 processer clocked at 1.1GHz, a 4.5-inch display running at a resolution of 854×480 pixels, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of expandable storage. Its front and rear camera are pegged at 2MP and 8MP respectively.  The Desire 520 runs Android Lollipop (with HTC’s Sense 7 overlay) and supports Optus' 4G Plus network.

"We continue to refine our products by taking advantage of the latest technology,” said HTC ANZ Country Manager Ben Hodgson. "By combining our most recent advances with the reliable and superfast Optus 4G Plus network, we are bringing blazing internet speeds to more people than ever before."

Optus will be the exclusive retailer of the HTC Desire 520 for its first three months of local availability. The Desire 520 is available from today.
