A Frogger rip off, Grogger, has been commissioned by the Melbourne City Council in an effort to reduce the amount of pedestrian accidents over the holiday period.

The game which is a play on the classic video game Frogger sees players trying to cross a busy road. The players pick up beer bottles as they go – which reduce their reaction times… The more bottles they pick up the slower they become… Players must try to make it all the way across the road without getting smashed.

Speaking with news.com, the Melbourne Council stated 70% of pedestrian accidents result in injuries. With over 700,000 people visiting the CBD daily over the holiday period, the council hopes the game will raise awareness of the risks that pedestrians take when over indulging…

The game is being set up at public access points across Melbourne where people can play the game. The campaign is part of the VIc Police road safety campaign.
