Google’s Nexus-branded tablets have enjoyed considerable success in the past thanks to its minimalist and bloatware-free UI and above average build quality provided by either Samsung or Asus. For the past few years, the Nexus tablet range has focused on the 7- and 10-inch market, but this time, it looks like Google might introduce an 8 incher.

According to a report by the DigiTimes, the Mountain View company might be partnering again with HTC for the 8-inch Nexus Tablet. According to the report, the choice to get HTC to build the tablet was due to Google’s decision to push a new design and at the same time Asus is reportedly more interested in building tablets under its own brand.

There’s no specific information yet on what this 8-inch Nexus tablet from HTC would pack internally. But with Google’s I/O developer conference happening towards the last week of June, we might be able to get some details of the tablet during the event. As for build quality, HTC has been known to produce impressive devices in the past and it was actually Google’s first hardware partner for Android so we should expect nothing less from the Taiwanese manufacturer.
