Samsung’s Galaxy S5 variants are now slowly making the rounds in rumour land with the Galaxy S5 Active (specifically one heading to AT&T) making the headlines these past couple of days as videos of the device were posted on the internet on multiple occasions.

The first video was posted by TK Tech News on YouTube a few days ago and shows off the S5 Active’s external design features as well as some information about its model number (SMG870A), the version of Android it is running (which of course is Android 4.4.2 KitKat) and its Kernel number among others.

The S5 Active’s design is very similar to the look of last year’s model with the same physical navigation buttons at the front and four-screw design accents at the back. According to the video, the display has a resolution higher than 720p (around 1920 x 1080 pixels) and will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip with 2GB of RAM and support for a 16MP camera.

There’s also a new Activity Zone that looks like an extended version of the S-Health app on the basic S5. This app can be easily accessed with an “Activity Key” located at the left side of the handset.

Lastly, the S5 Active also comes with a barometer, a compass and a flashlight feature, which should be helpful if you’re into mountain climbing.
