Galaxy Note 3 Gets Android 4.4 KitKat

Android KitKat has barely scratched the surface of the market when it comes to distribution. Android KitKat has barely scratched the surface of the market when it comes to distribution. In fact, according to Google’s monthly Android version distribution number from last month, Android 4.4 powers approximately 1.4% of all Android devices worldwide.

Today, the OS is starting to arrive to Samsung’s Galaxy Note III, specifically starting with Note III owners from Poland as well as a few other European countries. This build of Android should provide users with the following features: new icon design on the status bar, fullscreen album art on the lockscreen, camera shortcut button on the lockscreen and substantial improvements in performance.

The build is compatible with the Qualcomm Snapdragon version of the Galaxy Note 3 and should be available to all Note III owners worldwide in the coming weeks.

In other KitKat News, HTC Netherlands has confirmed that the company’s former flagship device – the HTC One X+ won’t be getting Android 4.4 KitKat. According to a tweet from HTC Netherlands, the One X+ will remain on the current software version, Android 4.2.2 with Sense 5.
