Fujitsu recently unveiled a new All-In-One business PC that can run on just 5 watts of power on a special mode that is meant to be used for Unified Communications programmes, which require PCs to be always on in order to handle incoming phone calls, video calls and instant messaging conversations.

The Esprimo X923 features a 23-inch Full HD screen, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB hard drive (or 500GB SSD), Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 and can be configured with an i3, i5 or i7 processor. There’s also a presence sensor that points to its compatibility with various applications.

But the device’s most interesting feature would have to be its LPAM (low-power active) mode, in which the PC pauses browsers and productivity suites in order to save power. In this mode, the device only uses five watts of power, which is around 45 percent lower than the 9.1 watts used in standard idle mode. Fujitsu will also be offering a variant that has a touchscreen.

There’s no word yet on pricing and availability.
