Electrocution Hazard With Portable DVD Players

  • Target recalls portable DVD players
  • On sale over the past year
  • Base brand

Target has issued a recall for a series of portable DVD players it has been selling over the past year.

They are the Base portable DVD players in black/silver and pink/silver (TP-998); and the Base portable DVD players in orange/white and pink/white (TP-998a).

Apparently if the back cover of the AC adapter separates from the unit, live wiring may be exposed, posing an electrocution hazard.

The back cover of the AC adapter supplied with the DVD player can separate from the casing. The product was on sale from 1st August 2010  until 1st July 2011
Target sold the units and advise that customers should cease using this product immediately and contact Target's Customer Relations Department on 1800 814
