Budget telco Vaya now price matching prepaid smartphone plans

Budget telco Vaya is now offering to price match any telco that sells a comparable prepaid plan for less. New and existing customers who take up the "Price Beat Guarantee" will receive the discounted price for as long as they remain a Vaya subscriber, and will also get their first price-matched month free.

"The average Aussie doesn't want to compromise on a plan, they want value but they still want quality," Vaya Commercial Director Maik Retzlaff told CyberShack. "[The Price Beat Guarantee is] almost insurance for Vaya customers, you don't have to jump around and chase deals, you'll always have the best value plan on the market"

For Vaya to match the price of a plan, it has to have exactly the same talk, text, and data inclusions as a Vaya prepaid plan, but with a lower monthly price.

While there is no limit to how many times customers can redeem Vaya's Price Beat Guarantee, there are a few small catches. The biggest is that the offer doesn't extend to promotional pricing. If Vodafone, Optus, Telstra, or any other telco is offering bonus data or a limited time discount, Vaya won't match that offer.

Vaya also won't be able to give customers inclusions it doesn't provide. Retzlaff told CyberShack that if Vodafone had a cheaper comparable plan to Vaya, but it also included international minutes, Vaya would match the price, but the subscriber wouldn't receive international minutes.

Existing subscribers and new customers will need to call Vaya to redeem the Price Beat Guarantee.

Vaya's 4G unlimited mobile plans (powered by the Optus network) start at AUD$20 per month, with unlimited talk and text, and 1.5GB of data. Excess data is billed at AUD$10 per GB.
