It’s been a while since we heard news from BlackBerry’s camp. Today, the Canadian phone maker resurrects as it announced a new product meant for businesses who want a secure platform to send instant messages – BBM Protected.

The app is part of the company’s enterprise suite that’s designed for businesses and government offices for secure transmission of data. BBM Protected features heavy-duty encryption with each message having its own encryption key that make it difficult for prying eyes to decode an entire conversation.

The app is even secure enough that it can allow users from different BlackBerry Enterprise service to exchange messages. BBM Protected is now available on smartphones running on BBOS 6.0 and above or BBOS 10 handsets in regulated mode.
