The hype about Apple’s smartwatch is now starting to build up as we come closer to the second half of the year – the time when the Cupertino company unveils its latest products for the world to see.

Today, a report from 9to5Mac indicates that Apple might be working with top athletes to make its wearable as fitness-centric as possible. Names linked to the development of the smartwatch include NBA star Kobe Bryant, ice hockey player Dustin Brown and an unnamed member of the Boston Red Sox.

According to the report, the athletes are already testing the device, with Bryant apparently personally visiting Apple’s HQ to check out the device’s features. Other rumoured features of the Apple smartwatch include an array of 10 sensors including a heart rate tracker, blood glucose and blood oxygen detectors and sweat analysis tool.

The device will likely be announced on October.
