Apple to release 12″ MacBook Air with Retina Display in Spring?

A 12" MacBook Air will enter production in the third quarter of the year, according to DigiTimes. Rumours suggest that this will the Retina MacBook Air punters predicted would be announced at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference.

Rumours suggest that this will the Retina MacBook Air punters predicted would be announced at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference. Aside from a Retina display, the 12" MacBook Air would likely feature a similar industrial design to its 11" and 13" counterparts.

It is speculated that the 12" MacBook Air could signal the death of the 11" model, due to the screen size being too similar to the increasingly popular iPad Air. Sources claim that while Apple does not yet have a plan to phase out the 11" model, it is the logical long term plan.
