Apple is expected to reveal its upcoming wearable device, currently referred to as the iWatch, on September 9 alongside the iPhone 6, according to Re/code. The site previously reported that Apple were to debut the iWatch at a separate event in October, but now say that Apple's plans have changed.

Re/code alleges that Apple's wearable will make use of the company's new HealthKit and HomeKit platforms. HealthKit ties into Apple's Health app, designed to track health and fitness metric, while HomeKit is a new framework for controlling connected devices in a "smart home".

Though Apple may plan to announce its wearable device in September, rumours suggest that the device might not available until late 2014 or early 2015.
