Australian Apple customers can now trade in their old iPhones and iPads for credit toward new models as of today. Customers can receive a maximum of $250 credit toward a new iPhone, or up to $215 for an iPad.

Apple's latest products, the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iPad are not yet eligible for trade-in, but if customers wish, they can still bring them in to be recycled.

Apple's recycling program first launched last August in the United States, and helped the organisation boost its green credentials. In a recent a report published by Greenpeace, Apple were named the world's greenest tech company. In particular, the organisation highlighted Apple's commitment to powering its data centres with 100% renewable energy and improvements in energy transparency.
