Apple has already overhauled the design of its mobile operating system when it released iOS7, so for some, it’s about time that Google do the same for Android. And by the looks of a recent leak, this redesign may come really soon.

According to some leaked images discovered by Android Police, the search giant might soon update the icons in Android to more closely resemble those on its web services. This new style is allegedly called internally as “Moonshine” and boasts a similar flat design we’ve seen on Windows Phone and iOS7.

The leaked screenshot shows new icons for majority of Google’s services including Google Play Music, Book, Movies, Games, Google+, Calendar, People, Chrome, YouTube, Google Maps, Hangouts, Camera and the Google Play Store.

At the moment, there’s no concrete information on when and what version of Android will these icons be implemented. Moreover, design-based changes can change even in the last minute, so there’s a chance Google might just trash this design change at the last minute. However, some of the icons in the leak were seen on Google’s Partner Page, which confirms their existence.

So in a nutshell, these icons are real, but we just don’t know if they’ll reach Android. What do you think? Leave your thoughts at the comment box below.
