Alcatel’s latest smartphone is waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, and less than AUD$300

Alcatel's midrange Go Play smartphone will make its way to Australian retailers from early May at a recommended price point of AUD$299. The handset stands out from other low-to-midrange devices thanks to IP67 water and dust resistance, and drop-proofing.

IP67 water resistance means the Go Play can be submerged in water as deep as 1 metre for up to 30 minutes. It also certifies the phone is dust tight. While higher-end water resistant devices now typically have exposed connectors, the Go Play has tiny covers over both the headphone jack and micro-USB port. These much be sealed tight before wetting the phone.

The Go Play is also drop-proof to heights up of to 1.5 metres.
