Alcatel now offering a AUD$59 smartphone through Optus
Handset manufacturer Alcatel yesterday announced that it has begun selling its AUD$59 Pixi 3 smartphone through Optus stores as a pre-paid product. The Pixi 3 is a 4-inch Android (KitKat 4.4) device available in nine different colours.
In terms of hardware, the Pixi 3 features a 320×480 pixel display, a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of expandable storage. Alcatel claims that the Pixi 3's 1400mAh battery will provide up to eight hours of talk time, or 25 days of standby. The Pixi 3 is 3G and Wi-Fi enabled, but cannot connect to 4G networks.
"The Pixi range are fantastic entry-level devices, particularly for those new to the technology", said Nic Ferraro, Alcatel's local marketing head.
Customers purchasing the Pixi 3 through Optus are eligible for three free months of Netflix when they activate the included SIM.
