Fans of Adobe’s photo editing and management software – Lightroom will certainly be delighted with Adobe’s decision to bring the software into the tablet world, specifically for the Apple iPad.

The app supports both portrait and landscape orientation and supports a number of touch-friendly commands. The app is also well connected to the cloud, with changes done in the app pushed automatically to the cloud and reflected to other Lightroom versions a user is signed in to.

Apple has also made the app light on resources. The mobile version of Lightroom uses Smart Previews to push compressed raw images to the iPad, which also scales down images to more manageable sizes that are roughly 1-2MB in size. The app also comes with minor editing capabilities such as adjustments for colour temperature, exposure, highlights and contrast.

The app is now available for free in the Apple App Store for devices running on iOS 7 or higher, but you’ll need a Creative Cloud subscription with Lightroom to maximise its features.
